About

The Collegiate Church of the Holy Trinity in Olytsia is one of the most prominent sacral monuments of Volhynia and a unique example of early Baroque in Ukraine. Built in 1635–1640 as the family tomb of the Radziwill princes, the church is a true architectural masterpiece and an important spiritual and historical center of the region.

This majestic building was designed by Italian architects Benedetto Molli and Giovanni Maliverna, who took as a model the Roman temple Il Gesù — one of the key examples of Baroque architecture in Europe. The sculptural decoration of the facade and decorative elements were created by Lviv masters, in particular sculptors Melchior Erlenberg and Michal Germanus.

The facade of the church is decorated with Baroque sculptures and reliefs, and the interior was once distinguished by its magnificent decoration - marble altars, frescoes and decorative details, which are partially preserved or known from historical sources. Under the main nave is a crypt - the tomb of the Radziwill family, which gives the church significant historical and memorial significance.

The Collegiate Church of the Holy Trinity in Olytsia is a place where spirituality, history and high traditions of European Baroque are combined, inspiring tourists and connoisseurs of architectural beauty from all over Ukraine and the world.
