Vorotniv Botanical Reserve

Vorotniv is a 600.0-hectare botanical reserve belonging to the Kivertsivske LH State Enterprise. Protected oak-hornbeam, hornbeam-birch, oak-ash forests with an admixture of Scots pine Pinus sylvestris, aspen Populus tremula, hanging birch Betula pendula, maple Acer platanoides. A significant percentage of Quercus robur oak plantations are over 100 years old, Pinus sylvestris is over 80 years old. In the sparse undergrowth the most common hazel is Corylus avellana, buckthorn Frangula alnus, warty Euonymus verrucosus, in the dense grassy-shrub cover among the European ungulate Asarum europaeum, lilies of the valley. Cypripedium calceolus, wolfberry fragrant Daphne cneorum. The reserve is home to rare species of animals: black storks Ciconia nigra, small eagle Aquila pomarina, gray shrike Lanius excubitor, listed in the CCU and international conservation lists.
